Andrea on Strictly Come Dancing

Postby mdball on Sun 14 Oct, 2007 9:43 pm

According to the TV listing, Andrea will be on Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday 21st October at 6.50 pm on BBC 1. He will be appearing with Katherine Jenkins. Don't know if that means they'll be singing a duet or singing separately.

Ooooh - thanks for the heads-up mdball! I suspect it will be a duet as there is only one guest-of-the-week spot/performance on that show (or, at least, that's all there has been so far - though yesterday was only week 2 of the show).

It does mean Andrea will be in the UK, so it might be worth keeping an eye out on other tv and radio shows...
'How is the greatest tenor in the world?' asked McCormack.
'When did you become a baritone?' replied Caruso.

It is great that this show will be broadcasted on BBC one ,because it is also transmitted here in Belgium via cable television.
I hope it will be the same with the british documentary round x-mas time.
Big thank you for the good news!

This is great news, I was beginning to wonder whether we'd see anything at all of Andrea in UK this year.Unfortunately I'm in London on that day for a concert, so will have to set VCR. Our TV papers don't come out until tomorrow, so I can't check yet to see if He'll be on any other shows. By the way, Andrea's Vivere album is available to pre-order online at hmv.com. Cost is £8.99 a lot less than they'll be selling it for in their stores.

You can't get this BBC channel in the US, unless you have some very sophisticated ( and very expensive) satellite system.

Have seen Andrea tonight on 'STRICTLY COME DANCING' singing in duet with Kathrine Jenkins; Katherine sang the whole first verse, i couldnt wait for Andrea to start singing; he was wonderful; it was over too quick; I really hope we get to hear more of him on other British shows; i must confess i didn't think Katherine brought anything special to the song; i much prefer to hear Andrea sing this on his own as he really gives out the emotion in the song; also when he sang it with Sarah Brightman , they were good together. So lovely to see him.

I really enjoyed Katherine and Andrea singing Time To Say Goodbye and yes it was over too quickly. The female presenter of the show said that she had 'goosebumps' listening to them...........I know the feeling....

Katherine sang it like an opera aria, which to me sounded all wrong.
That song is best when Andrea sings it solo and in Italian, but if it must be as a duet, it has to be with Sarah Brightman.

I totaly agree with you carolina,I was not to fond of this version too.
I also prefer the solo Bocelli or with Sarah Brightman.
Although Katherine Jenkins has a beautiful voice,I was not to happy with her last high note.
It seemed to me that she was not holding the note as long as Andrea did.
But then,of course,he is unique!

Yes Jan, and that last shot, obscuring him ....how dare they !!

I thought it was very sweet that Katherine gave him a spontaneous kiss on the cheek at the end - that girl knows quality when she sees and hears it :)

She sure does! Also noticed some of the women in the audience weren't watching the dancing AT ALL! Who can blame them?!

I am a little disappointed too, although I think the voice of Katherine Jenkins (she is a mezzo-soprano) is a better combination to Andrea in stead of Sarah Brightman (soprano).

I loved it - I thought Andrea and Katherine went together really well, but then you all know what I think of that other woman .... I wish Andrea would sing it like an opera aria.

I wonder if Katherine will ask him to appear at her festival next year, assuming she will have one, like she said at this year's. Wouldn't that be great?

This reminds me of when I attended the ice show in Toronto where Andrea performed. He sang while people skated...so they tell me! :D I surely wasn't watching the ice when THE MAN was onstage. The show was later broadcast on television. My seat was fairly close to the ice and I could spot myself in the crowd. Whenever you see me and Andrea is onstage, you see my head completely turned in his direction. Skaters? Really? What skaters? LOL!

Let's not forget the standing ovation from the audience and the show's dance judges...

It is interesting how different it sounds when you're not watching at the same time.
I cannot get the video at work, just the sound and somehow you can concentrate better.....lol
