02 be in London, now that Andrea's here

Bit late I know, but I've been away. Hope you like it.

A summer evening
In old London town
Damp, drizzle
The timeless river cold and grey
Like the sky
Hot trains, noisy,
Damp bodies squashed
Escalators up, down
To who knows where
Concrete ghost town
Glass
Empty eyes of empty offices
Shops, restaurants, dead
Sore feet
Silence
No canaries in this wharf
But music
Beautiful music
Shrinking everything
To him
And to the smile
The enchanting smile
Of the man on the stage
Blocking out all sound
Except the music
And the voice
Oh! the voice
The stirring, soaring, overwhelming beauty
Of the voice
In old London town
On a summer evening

I do like it, Lesley!

You have a quirky but lovely style that captures the feelings very well, whether it's for a "concert report" or another topic.

I enjoy these a lot..... thanks for putting yourself out there for us!

A great poem Lesley and I loved the bit about the 'sore feet'. I remember that night well.

I hope you both enjoyed the holiday and glad to see that you haven't been washed away.

Cheers Gill
