Thank you Andrea, oh thank you

Postby Lelly on Fri 01 Jun, 2007 7:41 pm

At last, at last I'm awake
I feel that I'm really alive
I don't feel dumb
My brain's not numb
I'm buzzy like bees in a hive

So excited and happy - and yet
I'm just a little bit dreamy
What did I say?
You just can't stay away
I knew you'd come over to see me!

Okay, me and thousands of others
All filling that massive great hall
You'll stand up and sing
And my heartstrings will ring
So smart and so handsome - and tall!

Thank you Andrea, oh thank you
I'm finding it hard just to pick words
You're just what I needed
My wishes you heeded
There's really a life after Pickfords!

Nicely done, Lesley =D> . I would say you didn't have any trouble at all "picking the right words". Enjoy the concert.

The poem was fun for sure but you lost me with the last line. What does it mean??? When I saw "Thank you, Andrea" I had a flashback of my own. After his final performance at Lincoln Center last September, my group went to the stage door to send him off with cheers and bravos. :) When he came out, without planning it at all, I heard myself call out, "THANK YOU!!!". :D Andrea turned in my direction, SMILED, :D and said, "thank you!". It was a great ending to a great night.

Pickford's:

Pickford's has been, for a long time, a national house moving company in the UK. Their name is synonymous with moving things and general upheaval and Lesley has just moved house, sounds like it might have been a bit stressful !

Carolina, you're so right! For a long time it seemed that my whole life was packed away in Pickford's boxes, including my brain, but I must say that, in our case, the actual removal men were fantastic. We live on the fifth floor and - stuff of nightmares - the lift was out of action on the day that we moved! I thought we'd have to put our things in store and spend the night in a hotel, but they just picked up the boxes and carried them, including a very heavy bed settee. They were true heros! Now, if you ask me about the admin side, well that's a different story ................

Love it Lesley! You're making me even more excited thinking of the London concert!!!
'How is the greatest tenor in the world?' asked McCormack.
'When did you become a baritone?' replied Caruso.

I hope your move goes well Jenny - I think half of my problem was that I didn't really want to leave our previous home. I wanted to move and I wanted all the changes it brought, which were all good, but I wish I could have taken our lovely flat with us! When we moved in it hadn't been touched for 40 years and we literally stripped it and put our own stamp on it, which really made it our own. Never mind, it's all for the good and I expect I'll soon feel more at home here. I'm starting to already, and a concert is just what I needed to give me a boost.

Thanks Lesley. I think I know what you mean, for me as much as I'm looking forward to a new place, it's the area that's hard to leave because I really like it and I've been here for a while.
I'm glad you also have a concert. Having something to look forward to certainly helps with the transition doesn't it.
