I hope it's released soon, then, Kay. I'd love to hear/see Andrea in "Carmen".

In the meantime, I content myself with two recordings of "Carmen" on DVD: one version with Franco Corelli, Belen Amparan, Elda Ribetti, etc., and another with Jose Carreras, Agnes Baltsa, Leona Mitchell and Samuel Ramey.

No, Kay, I haven't. Is it good? I like Placido. Do you have it on DVD?

Carmen was recorded in Paris in July 2005.
Andrea came from the recording studio to do his Live8 rendition of "The Prayer". He tells us this in the Steve Wright interview, broadast on Radio 2

I am sure that I read somewhere that it would be the next to be released Darcy. I have the video of Placido's Carmen. at least I think it's a video. after moving house twice in the last year I am not sure of anything anymore. Its a while since I've seen it. I think it is very good but the bullfighting scenes were too graphic for me.

Thanks, Kay.

I wouldn't be at all keen on the bullfighting scenes, either.

Darcy, maybe it needs maturing for a bit longer :D

The opera recordings do seem to be left on the shelf for a long time..I think Tosca was recorded 3 or 4 years before it became available, but don't quote me on that.

I have a feeling that he recorded this with Bryn Terfel. I'm sure Bryn talked about Carmen during the interview with Andrea at the Faenol. Can't wait to see it.

See it Lesley ? Did you mean hear it, or do you know something we don't ?

I do like Bryn's voice and it blends so well with Andrea's

Oops - wishful thinking! Though it would be great, wouldn't it? Andrea and Bryn in an opera together? Who would be Carmen I wonder - Katherine Jenkins perhaps? That would keep our menfolk happy anyway!
