"I guess so. I see it almost as marking the end of one part of my career and the start of another. I wanted to do a 'best of' before my 50th birthday (in September 2008) and moving onto other things. I've already got plenty of projects lined up for the next part of my career, such as a recording of 'Carmen' and a couple of other things that I'll talk about at a later date."

:?: :?:

la fin d'une époque ? :(

"I've received negative reviews from opera critics, (but) that's a slightly different issue - more to do with resentment of my commercial success and the assumption that I've made a lot of money. (But) negative criticism isn't necessarily bad for a successful artist. It can help you keep your feet on the ground. For a young artist who has yet to make it, it's completely different. It can destroy you."

Francesca, those words deserve a frame:

Opera is still largely confined to the opera houses. Part of the problem is that the mass media - radio, TV and the press - doesn't take much interest, and part of the problem is the snobbery of the opera world, which puts a lot of people off. That's a real pity. I've received negative reviews from opera critics, (but) that's a slightly different issue - more to do with resentment of my commercial success and the assumption that I've made a lot of money. (But) negative criticism isn't necessarily bad for a successful artist. It can help you keep your feet on the ground. For a young artist who has yet to make it, it's completely different. It can destroy you.

I wonder what happened to the thread we had in the past where we could post Andrea's words that have already included in the 'famous quotations' web sites.

"I sing to life, to its beauty, to each of its wounds and each of its caresses..."

Why getting upset before time, Francesca? Cheer up, and trust Andrea. He knows what's best for him and what pleases his fans. I cannot complain so far... I am sure great things are coming our way!

Andrea never lets us down. He has to make plans for the future.to make sure he accomplishes what he wants to do with his career. He has to feel fulfilled as an artist and as a person as you and I. You know we can never get enough of him,but I guarentee you he will not let himself down and especially those who love him.

I can see the fast life that one artist can have .

Living the present and the future !

That is for the love and the music!
Only I really wished that classic songs could also touch to simple people in the world may be a litlle girl or a litlle boy could have this God's gift ?

Of singing!

And I do think that Andrea could apply for this in teaching them .

Thank you and God bless you Andrea!

You will be allways the best !

http://www.milenio.com/index.php/2007/11/04/143215/

¡ Cuantos bellos proyectos y buenas intenciones! Ojala sean realidad!
