A new Bocelli fan

Postby Amma on Tue 07 Aug, 2007 3:54 pm

Hi everyone here. I'm a new Andrea bocelli fan. I would like to know more about him and I thought this would be a good place.

I've read a few posts and everyone here seems so nice. I hope I will be welcome here. I really like Andrea's music although it may seem weird to some people that a 15 year old likes Opera this much. I've also seen that he wrote here a few times. THAT IS SOOO COOL. he is the greatest and he is quite handsome aswell. :) :)

Thanks alot
Amma

Hi Amma, welcome to the site.

I would like to suggest this place: http://www.bocelli.de/en/index.htm

where you can find Andrea's performances, albums, look at photos and much, much more, going back quite a few years.

Make sure you take sandwiches and coffee, as you will be hours, if not days in there !

Only "quite" handsome ?

Welcome aboard, Amma! :) One thing I'm always interested in when I hear of new fans is what was your source of "discovery" (as I like to call it!). Did you hear Andrea first or see him or was it a combination of the two? The combination is awesome! :D If it was a song alone, which one was it? I was completely mesmerized by a single LINE from a song--before I'd ever seen him at all or known anything. A tv commercial for a hotel/casino in Las Vegas (Bellagio) would play the first line from "Con Te Partiro" in their spot. It drew me like a magnet! Everything else stopped! Who WAS that?!? This was in the summer of 1998. I first heard a whole song while watching figure skating on tv--the song was "Il Mare Calmo Della Sera". When it started, I was like, "It's THE VOICE from the commercial!!!". Got to finally see and hear him together that November when a Celine Dion tv special aired the day before Thanksgiving. The combination--particularly when he sang solo ("Sancta Maria") bowled me over completely and I was hooked. :) Sooooooo, what's your story??? :D

hahaha. Thank you all so much and thank you for all your suggestions. You know I "discovered" Andrea by mistake (if that is what i should call it). I was on youtube one day searching for Celine Dion favorites to calm me down after a hard day at the library and I came across a song that i had come across many times "The Prayer". Now I'm not quite sure if it was his voice, his looks, or the peacefulness on his face or a mixture of all three that really got me this time around. After listening to the song the 20th time around, I decided to search his name on youtube and that was when i came across "Con te partiro" with Sarah Brightman. Let me tell you guyz but for about 6 straight hours, all I did was listen to his music and just pray that I meet him one day. Now he has inspired me to visit Italy, learn the language and hopefully someday get an Italian boyfriend :)hahaha

Some of the other songs I listened to were "Besame Mucho, Nessum Dorma, Can't help fallin in love with you, Panis Angelicus, Ave Maria and a whole bunch of other songs"

I'm really glad I met Andrea (even though it was over the internet). He has changed my life for the better.

Hi Amma,

So glad you've found yourself here. I have loved being here with all of Andrea's fans. This is the greatest group of people. I have never heard an inappropriate comment on this site - everyone is very respectful of each other and of Andrea's privacy.

I kinda - sorta knew who Andrea was, but I wasn't particularly interested until I was watching an episode of the Sopranos and heard a song that absolutely blew me away! I read all the credits at the end of the show - lucky for me I had rented the video it from Block Buster or I would never have been able to read the music credits. I read that it was Andrea singing and I started my google search. It wasn't long before I found my way to youtube and just like you found his video with Sarah Brightman singing "Con Te Partiro". And the rest is history.

Welcome and I know you'll have many wonderful moments here and you'll enjoy going thru all the videos and photos that are here and elsewhere on the web.

I love what Carolina said about the coffee and sandwiches - how true. I'm still spending way too much time on the computer looking for anything new that I can find about him.

:P

Hi Amma and welcome to this forum!
it isn't so common that a young girl like you loves opera; today everyone is interested in pop or rock music and young people think that opera is something ancient, without importance.
I'm young too and I love opera very much and I don't pay any attention to the opinion of my friends.
So don't worry and follow your passion!! :D :D
Welcome again!

ehi! I THINK that opera is ancient, for me even the last album ov Avril Lavigne is ancient, but I HOWEVER try to listen it! But, I think that I'm talkinf for the most part of youngs, the opera is a little difficult to hear, you must know what you're going to listen. At least, it's what I think and what my music's teacher has said!

When I say I like opera, I mean I like certain types of opera. I'm not really into the type that..I dont know how to explain it but it is like they are not really singing. I like Luciano Pavarotti and ofcourse Andrea Bocelli and a few others because I feel like they actually sing opera. and also becasue I can really feel their music when they sing. i agree with Glo. Opera is ancient and some of them are really hard to listen to. I love Andreas voice because it is not soooooooo strong. It is subtle enough for him to sound magnificent singing Pop and amazing singing Opera.

BTW...I'm going to chapters today. Do you think I can find Andrea Bocelli's book there?
