FAUST PALERMO

FAUST PALERMO

Postby Andrea Bocelli on Wed Mar 25, 2009 2:57 pm

Andrea

Dear Friends,

During the days I spent in Palermo, Gounod's Faust represented for me a human, even more than artistic, experience of an extraordinary intensity and in this sense I think , it was extremely positive.

First of all, I would like to thank M° Plasson: an extraordinary musician who, after an incomparable career and clamorous successes in the most prestigious theatres throughout the world, found the enthusiasm, the energy and the time to come to visit me and to help me improving and understanding the role I should have soon played under his conduction.
As long as there will be men like him, and people like those who did their utmost in this particular circumstance, the opera and its fans will have nothing to fear.

Never before did I feel all the fans who came numerous to Palermo, from every part of the world, so close, so important, so protagonists; never as much as this time they have been able to instill in me new energy and optimism.
I met some of them in the street and in my hotel, I’ve been able to exchange a few words with some of them, shook their hands and I realized now more than ever, how big is their esteem and love for me. An affection that I try to return to them on a daily basis by putting all my efforts in my relationship with music.

"Art helps people growing stronger and reveals their life", these are the words written on the frontispiece of Teatro Massimo in Palermo. That is true: art inspires the human soul with a sense of value of life and with anything related to that; this is why we need to support it with zeal and courage.

To all those who made big sacrifices to come to Palermo with the aim to listen to pages of sublime music, goes my heartfelt thank you and a warm hug.

Carissimo Maestro

@Anne:

Dear Andrea!
Thank you very much for your lovely message.
Unfortunately I was not in Palermo, but my thoughts were all the time with you. You spend so much time and energy to study this wonderful opera and then they cancelled the performances and you can not sing  Very pity! I hope, we will be able to hear you sing this wonderful opera on a CD.
YOU'RE THE BEST!!!
With love

Even though I was not in Palermo, I know it would have been a great performance.
I would have loved to be one of those that was able to meet Andrea and talk with him.
What a thrill that would be for me.
Andrea always has the most wonderful words to say to his friends. He is so very caring.
A wonderful man.
Thank you, Andrea for all the wonderful words and for all you do.

Thank you Andrea for meeting with some of the fans in Palermo and for coming on here to tell us how you appreciate our esteem and affection.

It was a great disappointment not to hear you sing Faust, but maybe another time, another place ?

Can you tell us if a recording was made and if, and when, it will be released on CD ?

Dear Maestro Bocelli,
Many, many THANKS for this kind message. :D
It simply proves again that you are the nicest and most wonderful artist in the world.
Presently, I am waiting for a DVD with your concert in Perta, Jordan. A small part of the concert was shown on our Public Television this month as part of their fund drive and we could order a copy of it.
You are magnificent there! =D>
There is no day in my life that I do not listen to your recordings. My life would be very empty without your art.
THANK YOU FOR BEEING YOU!
With admiration and respect,
Alicja

Carissimo Andrea;

I have been away from the board for a few months, have a new computer, a new ID for the board, and just got back on today. I was absolutely astonished to see that the performances of Faust were canceled. What on earth happened? I am assuming that this was either a strike by the orchestra or by the stage hands. Whatever the problem, I am so very sorry it happened and that Andrea did not get to perform. I'm sure there were indeed people from all over the world who came for the explicit reason of seeing this opera. How enormously sad for them, and how utterly devastating for Andrea and the others within the cast who worked so hard and for so long to make this a wonderful experience. Nonetheless, I read Andrea's comments afterwards, and in his typically refreshing and positive manner, he took it all in stride and thanked everyone else for their work, as well as thanked his fans for loyally supporting him.

Now we all await the rest of the tour of this year, and I personally eagerly await the time at the Teatro Del Silenzio in July.

Regards to all board members, and especially to Andrea!

Your music is truly the most beautiful thing on earth, wish I was one of the lucky fans who were able to meet you. Thank you, again, for doing the US tour, and we'll see you in Chicago!

Andrea could not perform in Faust, as the workers and musicians of the theatre were on strike. Andrea however was ready to perform.
